CURRENT:

NOTE:  Apologies to regular readers for the unusually long hiatus between April postings and now. Ray took some vacation in mid-April and then began a flurry of talks at universities and other venues in Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, and Maine. Like Gene Autry, he is now “back in the saddle again” – at least for a few weeks, before getting on the road again. (We will update the “Appearances” Tab as well within the next day or two.)
The list below starts with things done in recent days, after Ray got back from Pennsylvania and New England; it then includes a link to Ray’s address to Maine’s Mid-Coast Forum on Foreign Policy: “Obama in ‘Lockstep’ With Israel on Iran: Why?” (I include a link to an article and radio interview on the June 8, 1967 Israeli attack on the USS Liberty.) Then comes a letter Ray wrote, while on the road, providing his views on the investigative reporting contribution made by consortiumnews.com toward uncovering and revealing Real History; then a couple of earlier items not yet posted.

“Wake Up Everybody”
(NEW)
(with Don Lacy, KPOO 89.5 FM, San Francisco)
May 18, 2013; 9:45 to 10:08 am
(Ray chose to interpret the program name as a mandate to confront “sheepish submissiveness” head-on.)

     Part I - 6:13 Part II - 7:01 Part III - 9:21
Down With “sheepish submissiveness.” Are we, like the Germans of just 80 years ago, going to look on passively, “as though from a box at the theater,” as our Constitution is shredded? The words in quotation marks are ones used by a young German lawyer, Raimund Pretzel, to describe the “collective, limp collapse [and] nervous breakdown” of the German people in 1933 after their 9/11 (the burning of the German parliament building). The title of his diary/book is “Defying Hitler.”
As bad as the Department of Justice’s seizing of AP records, the abuses of the IRS, and other abuses of the Obama administration are, the White House and Pentagon have now out-Cheneyed Cheney. Those abuses combined are dwarfed in significance by the non-disguised claim that the President can wage “endless war” with the most flimsy of statutory bases and little, if any, Congressional involvement (much less approval). It is a kind of self-perpetuating tautology: the effects of endless war serve very nicely to perpetuate endless war.  In the Bronx we call that a self-licking ice cream cone.

WMPG – Southern Maine Community Radio: “Big Talk,” recorded May 5, 2013
(NEW)
http://www.wmpg.org/archivefiles/bigtalk.htm (26 min.)
Topics include: Should Truman’s Baby (the CIA) be Thrown Out With the (covert action) Bathwater He Never Intended; Was it Ray or the agency that got thrown off its horse/course on the Road to Damascus (oops, meant Baghdad)?; The Saving Grace – CIA Analysts’ Role in Stopping War on Iran Planned for 2008 (read, for example, George W. Bush’s lament about this in a part of his memoir that he must have written himself); WikiLeaks and Julian Assange; the Phoenix-like rise of a “Fifth Estate” from the ashes of the Fourth.
Ray notes that it was quite refreshing to be beyond the Capital Beltway where folks can’t seem to pull themselves out of the quicksand of faux-issues like Benghazi.

Ray radio interview with Tom Klammer, “Tell Somebody,” KKFI, Kansas City
April 29, 2013 (45 min., but can skip the first 3 min.)
http://tellsomebodyradio.blogspot.com/2013/05/ray-mcgovern-with-emphasis-on-media.html
Tom’s intro starts with these words from Ray:
"Two weeks ago I celebrated my fiftieth year in Washington D.C. ... reflecting on all the changes I've seen, it seems there's one change that dwarfs all the others in importance; and that is, simply, that we no longer have in any real sense, a free media.  That's big.  That could not be bigger!"
Ray talks about his recent interactions with university students and others, as he speaks about the post-9/11 world, alternative media, the Fawning Corporate Media, lies about UN weapons inspectors, the congenital birth defect of the CIA, and former General/CIA director/now professor David Petraeus.
